Hey Y'all,

How's it goin? Things are gettin cold over here in Cooks Creek. Got a pretty good snow yesterday. It melted pretty fast though. Wish it would just freeze already. It's startin to get real annoyin with all this mud. It makes it pretty hard to do the chores. Anyway, that's my rant about the weather for now. I should probably get back to my research paper that I'm suppose to be workin on right now.

Adios.

Hey Y'all! Long Time No Talk.

Hey y'all.

I haven't been on this thing for a long time. I forgot I made it. Lots has happened between now and the last time I posted anything. Finally got Lily (my horse) back to a normal weight. Hey has anyone been keepin' up with the PBR (professional bull riding)? I went to that a couple weeks ago. They came to winnipeg. It was great. One bull broke his leg. They told us he was retired and would be used for breeding but I don't know.
Been keepin' busy. We got stalls in our barn now. Finished building those yesturday. We got the first snow of the year this morning. That's just down right depressing. We still got plenty to do before we're gonna be ready for winter. It's disgusting when you think about how fast the year has gone by. It feels like yesurday that I started University. (Yeah, I'm goin' to the U of W now.) You just can't keep up with the days. They seem to be flyin' by.
I really want to go ridin'. I haven't been riding' for a month and a half or more. I'm goin' through ridin' withdrawal! I just haven't had a chance to get out. With work, school, and gettin' ready for winter I just don't have time.
Anyway...I should go now. Don't really have anything left to say right now. I'll try to keep up on this thing. We'll see how it goes.

Howdy!

What's goin on with y'all? I've been keepin busy here in the fine community of Cooks Creek. My horse, Lily, sure has been keepin me on my toes. Last Saturday she coliced. Nothin serious but she sure did give me a scare. Had to call in the vet. Then this mornin she managed to get herself stuck under the fence. Don't ask me how she did it but she did. It'll be interestin to see what she throws at me next.
I can't wait till the PBR (professional bull riding) is back on Saturday nights. I'm a huge fan of the PBR! I really hope that it comes back to Winnipeg this year. I went last June and it was a hoot. Had tons of fun.
Think I might go for a ride this weekend. Weather dependin of course. Have to ride my moms horse though, as Lily isn't quite in a condition to be ridden right now. She's still really thin. So if anyone has any advice that could help to bring her back to a proper weight, please let me now. I would really appreciate it.
Just about finished all my Christmas shoppin. Still have to wrap everythin though. haven't even started on that yet. Oh well, i'l get round to it. Only, 10 days and counting. I'm startin to get real excited. Christmas is like that. No matter what you can't help but get excited over it. Waiting in anticipation for the big day.
Anyway, it's gettin kinda late. Think I might turn in for the night. I still gotta feed the horses. Talk to y'all soon.

Christmas on the Farm

Hey Y'all,

Weather's been beautiful here in the quaint little community of Cooks Creek. Warm with just enough snow. The other day when I got up and looked outside everything was covered in frost. It looked like an old Christmas card. it sure was pretty. Went out and got the Christmas Tree on Sunday. This will be the first year in about ten years that we're havin a real tree. We just finished decorating it and it looks great. Sure does smell good, too. I've always loved that real tree scent. With Christmas just around the corner, life couldn't be much better. The real great thing about this year is that we're havin a good, old-fashioned family Christmas. The whole family's comin for the big dinner. A great time to catch up with everybody. No big, expensive gifts. No worries about who got a bigger gift than who. And no stressin about havin the same priced gift for everyone. Nope, it'll be great. That's what Christmas should be about. Ya know? Why does it matter if so-n-so got a bigger gift or a more expensive gift than you did? Why can't Christmas be the way it used to be? When the only thing that mattered was that you had loved ones around you and that you were all healthy and happy because you had your family and friends with you. Now happiness is measured by the dollar. What happened to a time when kids would be happy to get a pair af mitts or a homemade pair of socks in thier stocking? Now kids aren't happy unless they've got the latest model of Play Station. Personally, I don't go to the malls a lot, but from the few times that I have entered the bustling stores, I can't help but think that Christmas is moving further and further from its true meaning and closer to a commercialized, money-making, scam. I always thought that Christmas was about giving and being with loved ones. Anyway, guess that's my little rant.

Merry Christmas to you and yours!

PS.

If anybody knows a good way to put weight back on a thin horse, would ya mind sharing your secrets? My mare, Lily, lost a lot of weight real quick and I need to find a way to get it back on her. I've already got her on a higher protein grain and beet pulp. If anyone could let me know if they have any other solutions to my problem that would be real great. Thanks a lot.
